-->An embedded video of a (pick a GENRE) title sequence of your choice and accompanying analysis answering the same questions.

1.     How does the title sequence establish the genre (explain the genre’s codes and conventions), character and narrative?
2.     How does the title sequence attract an audience’s interest?
3.     What do you consider to be the target audience of the film and why? (explain audience gender and demographics and why it would appeal to that particular audience)
4.     Who has produced the film and how is that evident in the title sequence?

The title sequence of Zombieland is made to introduce the genre, characters and the narrative of the movie. It sets the scene and shows the audience to expect in the movie.

The first part in the opening sequence involves a police officer who is thrown off the police building by a zombie. The zombie is wearing a prisoner's costume, we can assume that the zombie was a prisoner from a jail.

The slow motion effect shows the comical nature of the film. Straight away the audience are shown violent graphic images, we can assume that the movie has bloody violent scenes in it.
The shot is seen from below, the camera is placed at a low angle so as the police man comes hurtling toward the viewer. The shot is dramatic, making the viewer feel as though the man is going to fall on top of them. The viewer is helpless.
The shot also implies that the infected are more dominant than the uninfected. The production company's title comes up, the falling policeman hits the Colombia Pictures title, and Colombia Pictures title gets demolished. This shows that the movie will have a lot of destruction thought out the movie which is confirmed later in the movie, which the casting signs are in the scene throughout the opening sequence, which they also get destroyed as they get hit by the people in the movie.

The second scene in the opening sequence, shows a zombie spitting blood out of his mouth. This is the main scene in the opening sequence for the audience, because they will have a great awareness of what is going to happen next or what to expect thought out the movie. The close up of the zombie's face is graphic and shows disgusting detail. It also shows that the movie will contain a lot of blood and gore, and will frighten the audience. These are the expected conventions of the horror genre.
In the background, there is a huge trailing traffic jam, which is only on one side of the road. This implies the people are all heading in the same direction, out of the city. The traffic jam suggest that there is a lot of people evacuating an area. It also implies that the zombies are taking over.

The second scene shows a woman trying to run away from some zombies who are chasing her. She is holding a pink milkshake as she struggles to escape the zombies. The pink liquid splashes and spills as she runs. This may imply that she was taken by surprise as she still holds her drink; the liquid could represent the splashing of her blood. The colour pink is a typical colour linked to females, it shows that female are more delicate than males; the colour pink is a feminine colour and a female symbol. It also matches the colour in her clothes. She is not going to escape the nightmare. The titles font falls to pieces, as it gets splashed. Everything is falling apart.

Then the next scene shows a man holding a banner saying 'THE END IS NEAR'. He is also being attacked by a pack of zombies, this particular scene shows irony and dark humour. There is also the idea of betrayal and 'every man for themselves', because in the background there are uninfected people running away. Nobody stops to help him. This shows simple human nature, to survive. The actors title gets crushed and bashed by the zombie. Nothing can stand in the way of the destruction.

The next scene shows a man in a suit running away from a blazing car, zombies pursue him. The running man throws a suitcase of money in the air. Money flies all over the place. The desperate man is in fear for his life, money doesn't matter any more. The black smoke from the fire implies death, fear and destruction. The actors title is destroyed, following the theme.

The genre follows the codes of a comedy horror. The fat man, the putrid naked zombie woman and the bald old man are all darkly funny. In one of the scenes they show firemen trying to put a fire out that is presumably created by the zombies. The title is unstable and falls apart.

The zombies are too powerful and this shot implies that they will cause destruction. It may also imply that the zombies are indestructible or can't they be killed. It's a losing battle because the firemen, who are normally strong heroes are being taken over. One of the firemen just runs. Even heroes can't fight against this.

After that, we see a man in a white suit with a machine gun killing zombies, this shows the theme of loneliness because he is all alone. It shows 'everyman for themselves' because he is shooting everywhere, which could suggest that he doesn’t care and has gone crazy. He wants to live. It also shows that he doesn’t have fear because he has a gun and he is trying fight the zombies by himself. In this scene we see a zombie coming from in behind him and the character can't see. The audience can assume that he will die. The final scene shows that the zombie flying on the window which could mean that there is someone who is beating the zombies off or may suggest that the it’s the end of the zombies, overall the title sequence shows what the whole movie is about. A battle against mindless zombies.
