Evaluation Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The first frame of the 9 frame analysis is a full black picture because this shows to the audience that the film is dark and dangerous film, the film has a genre of action/thriller, and the first frame builds suspense because the audience doesn’t know what is going to happen next because it is a pitch black frame which will bring expectations.
The second frame of the analysis shows the audience guns on a table, the camera shot used in this frame is a point of view shot, which shows the audience what the character is looking at, which gives an effect of that, the audience is in the characters shoes. The weapons suggests threat and danger to the audience, this also gives a hint of what the genre is to the audience and they will be sure that the film is going to be a dangerous film. Also, when they use a point of view shot, they will be able to tell that the character is dizzy because there has been a blur effect used, also there is an blinking effect used to the particular character, so that it suggests that the character is injured or unconscious, which then will suggest to the audience that it is a violent film. Also, the lighting of the scene might suggest that they are in a torture cell, because the lighting is directly on the character and the table of weapons which again suggests to the characters that it’s a violent film and they will expect more violence.

The third frame shows the production company of the film, so then the audience knows what company made the film; also the background of the film is full black which suggests some sort of danger and thrill, and also states that the film is dark. Also, the font is very sharp and straight forward, which suggests action and thrill, the font looks serious, which shows that the film is a serious movie, whereas a comedy or a love film would have a more soft and different font.

The forth frame is just simply shows the date of the film, which can be appealing to the audience because then they would think what the date is for, is it a release date of the film, or the date of when the film or story is set. Also, the font type again is a sharp and serious, which isn’t a font that would be used in a comedy film or a love film. The font for the film suggests that the film is serious film and dangerous.  Also, it makes it stand out so then the audience will know straight away what it is, which then they would know that the date means something important.

The fifth frame shows the main characters, he was wearing smart trousers, smart shoes, a stripy white shirt and a dark blue tie.  This will give an indication that the character is a high class person because of his particular costume, this conforms the stereotype of a high class man because of his dress, also the camera is in a point of view position so it which shows that the other character is looking at the dominate character, the audience will know that the smart dressed man is a dominate person in the film, because the point of view shot is in a low angle on the smart character, which shows that the other character is dominate and has power.  Also the lighting in the frame is low key lighting, which suggests that they are in a dangerous place and a rough place, which could suggest that it is in a torture cell, also the darkness effect suggests that the film is dark and dangerous , it will also create suspense to  the audience.
The sixth frame shows the character, who was in a point of view shot, which now they show the character, which will then shock the audience because he is bleeding, and also they would be expecting the character to be in that state, because as they know at the start he was in a point of view shot, which was sometimes blurry, which suggests that he was injured.  Also, the blood suggests that the character is tortured and beaten, which suggests that the smartly dressed character is a violent man, now this will make the audience think what happened to the man and also they would want to know what happened and why he is so injured and in that state.  After that, they have used a shot/shot reverse to film the conversation, also they have used a high angle shot over the shoulder of the smartly dressed man of the bleeding character to show that he is at a lower position, and shows that the smart man is in a high position.

The seventh frame shows who has dominance, this is shown by the low angle shot of the character is looking up towards the other character which shows he is superior and has dominance. Also, the high position character is coming towards the injured character which suggests to the audience something might happen to the lower position character, which creates suspense and tension to the audience.
The eighth frame, shows the character pulling out a Rolex watch, and dropping on to the table, and also they use a editing technique of an eye line match and also a close up shot of the watch, so it creates more tension to the audience because they might think who the watch belongs too, the victim or the man in power.  Also, the Rolex watch can suggest that the man is rich which then relates to the power he has in the film.

The ninth frame, uses again a low angle shot, which shows that the character is more superior and has more dominance, also the low key lighting is used constantly the film so suggest that the film is has a dark story and is dangerous film.
